What you pay for
Your Modu bill has two main parts. The platform fee covers seats and any add ons. Secured actions represent traffic routed through the Modu gateways.
- Platform fee. Funds the Modu control plane. This includes policies, guardrails, routing, logs, benchmarking hooks, and auditability.
- Secured actions. Normalize usage across agents, sandboxes, and tools. Example contracted overage rate is $2.50 per extra one million secured actions.
- Provider costs. Always pass through at vendor price. We do not mark up models, sandboxes, or tools.

Who is Modu for?
Modu is built for Platform, AI Platform, and Security teams who need a single control plane for coding agents, sandboxes, and tools, plus individual developers who want to use those safely.
What is a secured action?
Secured actions are the usage routed through Modu. Tokens go through the agent gateway, sandbox minutes go through the sandbox gateway, and tool calls go through the tools and MCP gateway. We normalize these behind one meter so you do not have to track three separate ones.
Do you mark up provider costs?
No. We never mark up agents, sandboxes, or tools. In Managed mode we pass through each vendor on a single invoice. In BYO mode you pay them directly.
Can we mix Managed and BYO keys?
Yes. Many customers use Managed billing for most providers and BYO where they already have discounts, private endpoints, or regional constraints.
What happens if we exceed our secured action bundle?
We keep traffic flowing and bill overage at your contracted rate. For example, $2.50 per extra one million secured actions. You can cap or alert on usage with budgets and policies.
Is Modu suitable for regulated workloads?
Yes. Most regulated customers use Team plus Compliance or Enterprise for data residency, extended retention, and stricter guardrails. We work with your security team on requirements.
Can we start as individuals and later upgrade our org?
Yes. Developers can start on the free tier. You can later convert their workspaces into a Team or Enterprise organization without losing history.
